We're looking for passionate, curious and community-minded young people to step into leadership roles at Hounslow Council for the day. Whether you want to take part yourself or put forward someone who'd shine, now's the moment to get involved.


What is Youth Takeover Day?

Youth Takeover Day, happening in March 2026, is a one‑day event for young people. Participants will step into leadership and decision‑making roles across Hounslow Council, lead discussions, explore how major decisions are shaped, and share their ideas on the issues that matter most to them and their communities.


How to Apply or Nominate

This opportunity is open to young people aged 16–24 who live in the borough of Hounslow or are under council care. No experience is needed — just enthusiasm, ideas and a willingness to get involved. We’re seeking a wide range of voices, backgrounds and perspectives.

  • Download the nomination form above and email the completed version to engage@hounslow.gov.uk with the subject line ‘Youth Takeover Day Nomination’.


Deadline

All applications and nominations must be submitted by 5:00 PM on Friday, 13 February 2026. Late submissions will not be considered.

Shortlisted applicants will be contacted on Monday, 23 February 2026.

This isn’t work experience — it’s a chance to influence real decisions. Youth Takeover Day amplifies young people’s voices, strengthens their leadership, and gives them space to question, challenge and shape ideas at a strategic level.


Why we're running this event

Young people told us through the Youth Offer engagement they want more meaningful opportunities to influence decisions and prepare for adulthood. Youth Takeover Day responds directly to that call.

Safeguarding, inclusion and accessibility are central to the day, with appropriate supervision and support throughout. More information will be shared with selected participants and parents/carers closer to the event.
