Overview
Following receipt of a petition requesting alterations to the existing operational times of The Butts controlled parking zone (CPZ), the council is now commencing a review of the scheme to understand the views of those who live or work within the zone on the effectiveness, or otherwise, of the CPZ and whether changes are required.
In addition to seeking the views of consultees on the effectiveness of the existing scheme controls, the council are proposing a number of changes to the current layout of the CPZ and would welcome local feedback on these. The changes proposed to the CPZ layout are included in the documents tab on this page.
The CPZ, which operates between Monday-Saturday, 8am-6.30pm and incorporates Brent Road, Brentside, Church Walk, Lion Way, Market Place (in part), Robin Grove, Somerset Road, The Butts, Upper Butts and Willow Close.
The survey primarily focuses on the three aspects detailed below, but all views on the existing scheme are welcomed.
Is the CPZ having the desired effected of improving local parking conditions – Do you feel the CPZ is having the desired effect of removing all day, non-residential parking and increasing parking provisions for residents and associated visitors? Alternatively, do you consider the parking controls to have had a negative impact on parking availability in your road?
Operational times of the CPZ – The current operational times of the CPZ are Monday-Saturday. 8am-6.30pm and the intention was to remove ‘all-day’ non-residential parking such as commuters using Brentford Train Station. The council has received reports from some residents that these times are excessive and that less restrictive operational times would be more beneficial for local residents.
In response to this issue, the council are suggesting some alternative times for consideration and these are detailed on page 3 of the consultation letter, which can be viewed via the documents tab on the right hand side of this page. Irrespective of whether you agree that changes are needed or not, the council would welcome your views on the effectiveness of the current.
Existing parking scheme layout – the current scheme layout has not changed substantially since the scheme’s first introduction and this may be an indication that the current measures are appropriate and working well. However, the council are proposing some changes to the current layout and this particularly relates to changing some sections of single yellow lines to double yellow lines, changing some ‘shared-use’ parking bays to ‘resident only’ and providing some additional ‘resident only’ parking bays where there appears to be demand for this.

The survey is also an opportunity for local feedback on CPZ-related issues that may not be covered by the above topics.
