Do I need any special experience or qualifications to take part?

No special experience or qualifications are required. We are looking for a diverse group of residents from across the borough, and all voices are welcome regardless of background or expertise.

How much time do I need to commit?

Participation is flexible. You will be asked to take part in occasional surveys or discussions (either online or in person). There is no fixed time commitment, and you can choose which activities to take part in.

Will I be paid for taking part?

While this is not a paid role, your feedback will directly influence local decision-making and help shape the future of the borough. Occasionally, there may be small incentives for taking part in certain studies or focus groups.

Is this the same as a public consultation?

Not quite. While both involve public input, the Residents’ Panel is a more structured and ongoing way to collect feedback from a representative group of residents, rather than one-off consultations.

What happens with the feedback I give?

Your feedback is used to help the Council improve services and inform policy decisions. All responses are confidential and typically reported in anonymised or aggregated form unless you consent otherwise.

Will my personal details be shared?

No. Your identifiable personal data will only be shared with Hounslow Borough Council if you have provided explicit consent. Otherwise, data is shared in a way that protects your identity.

    How are panel members chosen?

Panel members are selected to reflect the diverse population of Hounslow. This includes collecting demographic data to ensure a wide range of perspectives are represented fairly

Can I leave the panel if I change my mind?

Yes. Participation is entirely voluntary, and you can withdraw at any time by contacting SMSR Research at info@smsr.co.uk. Your data will be securely deleted unless required for legal compliance.
