Background
From extensive consultation on the Transport Strategy (2025) and wider engagement carried out across the council, we know that residents and stakeholders would like to see improvements to public transport in Hounslow.
Themes frequently raised include:
Accessibility
Journey times
Bus driver training
Overcrowding at peak times
Integration with other modes
Service reliability, frequency and wait times
Equity and access in under-served areas
In response to this feedback, a draft Public Transport Plan has been produced which looks at how the council and its partners can improve bus, tube and rail travel in the borough.
We will require close collaboration with partners such as Transport for London, Network Rail and South Western Railway because the council does not operate buses or trains directly, but we play a vital role in shaping the network within our boundaries.

We will make changes to the plan based on this information and will publish the final Public Transport Plan once approved. This is likely to take place via a Single Member Decision in summer 2026 as detailed in this Cabinet Paper.
