Will the SuDS feature fill with sewage?

There will be no direct link between any foul sewer and the SuDS on Grantley Road open space. Therefore, there is no way for sewage to reach the wetland. Instead, the project will involve the diversion of rainwater that falls on to the road and normally drains via highway gullies via new drainage to the wetland. This will capture rainfall, filter out silt, and then divert the filtered rainfall back to the surface water drainage network. There will be a one-way outlet with a flow control device which, during very heavy rainfall, will slowly release the water back into the existing underlying drainage network. This will reduce peak water levels and flood risk in the surrounding area.

Where else have SuDS been delivered?

As part of the Thames Water Strategic Partnership (TWSP), Hounslow have been progressing nine schemes across the borough. Construction of three schemes has been successfully completed at College Road, Green School for Girls and Smallberry Green Primary School.
