Proposal Overview

The proposal is to reduce the speed limit on the road to 20mph, in order to match the roads around it. In addition, there are additional proposals to help manage speed through the road, including a speed table on the junction with Clunbury Ave, and a pair of speed humps south of the junction with Fern Lane.

There is also a separate proposal regarding pedestrian accessibility. Outside no 190 North Hyde Lane, we are looking to install a raised entry treatment to connect the bus stop to the rest of the footway.

What is being proposed?

A list of what is being proposed is below.
What are we proposing? Why are we proposing it?
Reduction of wall by no. 190 North Hyde Lane. The wall will remain, but will be reduced in length. The current position of the wall constricts the flow of pedestrian traffic up the footpath. By reducing the amount of the wall that encroaches into the footpath, the width of the footpath can be increased. This will help improve flow and safety for those using the footpath.
Construction of entry treatment between the northbound bus stop on and the footpath by no. 186 North Hyde Lane.Enhances the ability for those getting off the bus to head northbound
Construction of speed table on the junction between North Hyde Lane and Clunbury Avenue.Designed to help manage speeds on North Hyde Lane. This will be important to those that are using local amenities by foot, such as those travelling to schools.
Construction of speed cushion south of the junction between North Hyde Lane and Fern Lane.Designed to help manage speeds on North Hyde Lane. This will be important to those that are using local amenities by foot, such as those travelling to schools.
Reduction of the speed limit on North Hyde Lane from 30mph - 20mphProposed reduction of speed on North Hyde Lane in order to match the speed limit with the adjacent roads around the surrounding area. This will help with street clutter, as there will no longer be as many traffic signs as possible. It would also allow for improved safety for those using the road space.
