Local Government Insight Day: Evaluation
On Friday 21 August, we piloted our first-ever Local Government Insight Day for colleagues’ children and siblings, Hounslow’s Democracy Ambassadors and members of Hounslow Youth Council.
With 40 young people aged 14–17 signed up and more than 20 council officers involved, the day was designed to provide the next generation with an engaging and interactive insight into how local government operates.
During the day, participants took part in:
A Hounslow Leadership Group carousel, hearing from senior colleagues about their service areas, experiences and career journeys.
An early careers panel, exploring pathways including apprenticeships and graduate schemes.
An interactive Desert Island Challenge, designed to reflect the world of work and encourage teamwork, communication and problem-solving.
As this was a pilot event, we would really value feedback from those who attended. Please share your experience, what worked well and how we could improve future Local Government Insight Days.
