Hounslow Green Investment is a new investment scheme opportunity that aims to raise £5m to support local environmental projects within the London Borough of Hounslow.
The scheme is open to everyone, including residents, businesses, community groups and other interested investors, whether they live in the borough or not. Anyone is welcome to invest.
It will help the council deliver on its plans to create a greener, cleaner, healthier future as part of its ambitious plans to make Hounslow carbon net-zero by 2050.

What is it?
The Hounslow Green Investment allows people to directly invest in green projects that benefit the borough and make a fixed return on a low-risk investment.
The scheme aims to raise a total of £5m, in instalments over the next five years. It follows several other successful council schemes from The Cotswolds, Southwark, Camden and Hammersmith and Fulham, among many others, of which several are now on their third raise.
Investment terms
The first raise will be launched on Monday, June 2, 2025 and will run for three months, offering a fixed return of interest across a five-year term. The interest rate will be announced when the investment window opens on June 2, 2025.
What projects will the investment help fund?
The investment helps fund community and council projects to improve our neighbourhoods and support our communities to make the borough greener and more resilient to climate change.
This will include projects such as:
- Supporting businesses and communities to generate renewable energy, by installing solar panels.
- Supporting climate change adaptation schemes that deliver flood protection, resilience and other risk mitigation such as the installation of rain gardens and sustainable urban drainage.
- Promoting sustainable travel such as walking, cycling, and public transport.
- Greening the borough with improving existing open spaces and the planting of 22,500 trees—one for every child born in Hounslow.
- Promoting circular economy practices like repairing, sharing, recycling, and repurposing items to reduce waste and carbon emissions.
- Growing the green economy to create jobs, support businesses, and ensure a just transition.

How does it work?
Returns on investments are paid every six months across the five-year term. Meaning a total of ten payments, if you hold on to your investment throughout the whole term. They will be paid into your Abundance account for you to withdraw or reinvest as you wish.
