At Hounslow Council, we are reviewing how we work with children and families to ensure that the right support is available at the right time, and as early as possible.

Overview

Hounslow Council is reviewing how we support children and families as part of the Families First Partnership programme, a national initiative to improve services for families.

Our aim is to move away from crisis response and provide help earlier, based on what families really need. This means:

  • Giving families the right support at the right time
  • Encouraging services to work together so help is joined up


Your experiences matter

We’re reviewing support for children and families in Hounslow, and your experiences will help us get it right.

By sharing your views:

  • You help us understand what works well and what could be improved
  • You make sure support is designed around real family needs

Your feedback will guide how we deliver early, joined-up support that works for everyone.

We will also consult with various community forums and partners on the design before it is implemented. 


Who do we want to hear from?

If you have used any of the Children’s Services in Hounslow, we want to hear from you. 

These services include:

  • Children’s Social Care: your child has received support from a social care team, this could include being linked to a social worker or alternatively qualified worker

  • Early Help Adolescent, Support and Prevention Team (ASaP) - formerly Adolescent Support Team: your child is aged 10 - 17yrs and got support in relation to youth offending, exploitation, identity-based harm, and school exclusions.

  • Early Help Children with Disabilities: your child has additional needs and your family has used the Local Offer, Short Breaks or direct payments.

  • Family Group Conference: you have used a family group conference to the develop a plan for your child. You would have been supported by an independent coordinator and involved the support workers around your family.


How to take part?

You can share your views in a way that works best for you:

Online – please complete one of our short surveys below.

  • Adult Survey – about 10-15 minutes.
  • Young People Survey – just a few minutes

Email – you can find the survey questions under 'Important Documents' on the right. Download the file, complete it, and email it back to consult@hounslow.gov.uk. You can attach, scan, or take a photo of the completed survey.

Post – you can find the survey questions under 'Important Documents' on the right. Post your completed survey to:

Please make sure it arrives by 31 January 2026.

  • Families First Survey - Adult Version

    We’re asking families who have used Children’s Services in Hounslow to share their experiences so we can make sure support is available at the right time, and as early as possible.

    Whether you’re a parent, carer, or young person, your experiences matter - and they can help us improve how we support families. 

    Your answers will help us:

    • Understand what’s working well
    • Spot areas where things could be better
    • Make services more family-friendly, inclusive, and easier to access


    This survey should take around 10–15 minutes to complete.

    Everything you share will be kept anonymous and used only to improve services.
