How long is the consultation period?

The consultation launched on Thursday 24 October and will run until Sunday 15 December.

Why are we consulting on these documents?

To ensure the targets of the action plans are met, it is vital for Hounslow's stakeholders to share their feedback and help tailor our approach to accomodate varying needs across the borough.

What other consultation opportunities are there for walking, wheeling and cycling?

An online workshop will be available to anyone who is particularly interested in the action plans and would like to give more feedback. There are also wider activities planned for the Transport Strategy which these plans for walking, wheeling and cycling fall under. Click here for more information and to register.

How do these action plans fit in with other strategies?

These plans are informed by many existing strategies at the regional level including the Mayor's Transport Strategy, Mayor's Walking Action Plan, and Mayor's Cycling Action Plan. At the local level, they are shaped by our Corporate Plan and Local Implementation Plan. However, walking, wheeling and cycling have impact and are impacted by much more than just transport. Because of this, we are striving to reflect the principles of Hounslow's Health and Wellbeing Strategy, Air Quality Action Plan, Children and Young People's Strategy, Climate Emergency Action Plan, Kerbside and Parking Strategies. You can see how these all interact in the diagram below:

We are also updating our overarching Transport Strategy and have a consultation on the draft document which you can feed into at https://talk.hounslow.gov.uk/moving-forward until 15 December 2024.

How can I take up cycling in Hounslow?

Hounslow has an extensive cycle training programme to teach people how to ride a bike, and increase their confidence and skills. Sessions are delivered in schools and at our cycle hubs across the borough, including our all-ability inclusive cycle hub at Inwood Park. If you need to borrow a cycle and/or helmet, you can visit one of our five cycle hubs where these are available for users.

Additionally, there are various ways to get hold of a bike on a loan or permanent basis through our Try Before You Bike scheme. For more details on cycle training and ownership, visit our dedicated webpages.

I need a different format or language.
