Youth in Action: Inside Hounslow Takeover Day

I had the amazing opportunity to be able to attend the Hounslow Youth Takeover Day!

It was such an amazing, exciting and inspiring experience to attend the Hounslow Youth Takeover Day. It gave young people like me the chance to step into real decision-making roles and see how our local community is run behind the scenes. Throughout the day, I had the opportunity to share my ideas, voice my opinions, and work alongside professionals who genuinely listened to what we had to say.

One of the most valuable parts of the experience was gaining a better understanding of decision-making and responsibility. Being involved in discussions and activities showed me how important youth voices are in shaping the future of our borough. It also helped me build confidence, communication skills, and a stronger sense of teamwork.

As well as this, we were able to speak directly with decision-makers and people in positions of power. It was inspiring to see how open they were to listening and how much they valued our opinions. Being able to share my thoughts with those who can actually make changes made the day feel important and meaningful, and it showed me that young people really do have a voice that matters.

Overall, the day was very enjoyable and meaningful. It made me feel empowered, knowing that young people can make a difference and contribute to positive change in Hounslow. I would 100% recommend this experince to others. It’s a unique chance to step outside your comfort zone, meet new people, and get involved in how your local area is run. Not only is it enjoyable, but it also helps you grow in confidence and realise the impact your ideas can have.
