Overview

In November 2022, the council carried out preliminary consultation with residents and businesses in the Victoria Avenue area to understand whether there was support for the introduction of a controlled parking zone (CPZ). The responses received to that consultation indicated marginal majority in favour of a CPZ being introduced.

The consultation responses also identified that, in the event of a CPZ being introduced, there was majority support for a Monday to Sunday scheme and marginal preference in favour of a ‘all day’ scheme (such as 9.30am to 5.30pm) rather than a ‘part day’ scheme (such as 10am – noon).

In light of the lack of a clear consensus for or against the proposed CPZ, and to give consultees a further opportunity to express their views on the possible introduction of the scheme, it has been agreed to advance the CPZ proposals to the ‘detailed design’ consultation stage. This further consultation also provides an opportunity for consultees to comment on the specifics of a scheme such as the possible layout (for example, the parking bay locations and types) and potential operation times.

Available under the ‘documents’ section are both the consultation letter that was distributed in the area, which contains various CPZ related details including the costs of parking permits, and a plan showing the proposed scheme layout. It is recommended that participants review these documents in advance of completed the survey.
