Overview

Saxon Avenue: Proposed redesign of existing roundabout layout, Feltham, between no. 83 to 101 Saxon Avenue, Feltham.

As part of the ongoing three year Community Led Schemes programme, we would like your views on proposals to redesign the existing layout of the roundabout on Saxon Avenue.

Redesign of the existing roundabout.

Given the limited carriageway width and parking arrangement, the H25 bus service, refuse and delivery vehicles can have difficulty manoeuvring around the roundabout. The current parking arrangement around the roundabout abuts to grass verge areas which is a substandard arrangement, the uncontrolled pedestrian crossing areas do not have tactile paving and there is opportunity to enhance the public realm.

The proposals to convert the roundabout to a throughabout, with the addition of continuous footways, will address the accessibility and parking issues and deliver improved pedestrian accessibility towards the River Crane, Hanworth Road, local shops and other nearby green spaces. Cyclists and general traffic will also benefit from having a direct route through the junction. The existing carriageway around the roundabout is proposed to be maintained with one-way working to provide access to local houses; these changes will distance through traffic from these properties.

The roundabout location is shown below:
