Consultation has concluded

This consultation closed on 21 December 2023, an update will be available shortly which will summarise the findings and next steps.

Hounslow is a safe borough. It is not a knife or violent crime priority borough nor is it a gang’s borough. But we know there is more we can do to keep everyone safe. We understand the negative impact crime can have on our residents and our communities; how the fear of crime can affect the way residents feel about the areas they live in, and how some communities will experience crime issues because of who they are.

Why are we consulting?

We are consulting with residents, visitors, partners and community and voluntary organisations to understand if you agree with our priorities for the next three years. Your feedback is important to us and will help to shape how we make the community safer.

What have we done in the last three years?

  • We have worked to ensure our new preventative approach to address crime is embedded across all agencies and partnerships.
  • We have encouraged residents and communities to be more actively involved in keeping Hounslow safe.
  • We are working to simplify structures and processes in place to help residents understand how to access community safety related services.

Our priorities

In 2021, we listened to our communities, consulted professionals, and looked at crime data, to help us identify our priorities for 2021-24. These were:

  • Priority 1: Residents are less affected by serious crimes.
  • Priority 2: Young people and adults exposed to and exploited to commit crimes receive help.
  • Priority 3: Residents work together to keep Hounslow Safe.

We are proposing to keep our priorities the same for the next three years in 2024-27, to:

Keep our ambition

Working with communities to keep Hounslow a low crime borough and a safe place to live, work, study and visit.

Keep our focus

On a preventative, area-based approach working closely with communities to achieve our ambitions.

How can you get involved?

The consultation will close on Thursday 21 December 2023.

What happens next?

We will be sharing updates on this page with feedback from participants of this survey in February 2024.

Your feedback will be collected and considered in shaping the Safer Communities strategy priorities. Following this, the strategy and its priorities will be agreed at Hounslow Borough Council on 26 March 2024.

Following this, the published strategy will be shared via this platform and the Hounslow Council website.
