Robin Grove Recreation Ground Improvements
Robin Grove Recreation Ground is situated in Syon and Brentford Lock Ward, and sits alongside the Grand Union Canal. It is one of Hounslow's few waterside open spaces, and has recently undertaken development of a new footbridge across the canal to improve access to Brentford Station and the town's centre.
The works also include improvements to Robin Grove Recreation Ground with organisation Waterside Places contributing funds towards landscaping improvements.
October 2024In January 2024, the Project Officers conducted:
- A door knocking exercise with Cllr Bowring in the first week of January 2024
- Letter drop to residents on the road leading to the Park,
- x2 face to face sessions at the Digital Dock at Brentford High Street on the 3rd week of January took place early this year to start the Phase 1 improvements at Robin Grove Recreation Ground.
Phase 1 access to the riverside, fencing, soil works and MUGA refurbishment has now been completed.
- Fencing along the riverside – bow top railing.
- Fencing along the allotment edge – high metal mesh fence
- Fencing around wooded area
- Soil works and reseeding
- Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) – 2 side panels refurbished and resurfacing.
Phase 2 will be the development of a new playground.
In August 2024, the Project Officers conducted:
- 3rd and 4th week of August x2 Brentford Library drop in sessions with residents to explore playground design ideas.
- Design specification to be confirmed end of November.
2025 Update
Brentford FC Orchard
10 March 2025- Orchard tree planting organised by Brentford FC and the Council, took place at Robin Grove. A community event which involved a local school, the mayor ,councillors and members of the football club all getting stuck in with planting apples and pears for the community orchard. We look forward to seeing these trees bloom and bear fruit and once they do you are welcome to pick them but please do not break the branches.
New Playground
Following on from the various engagements regarding the playground at Robin Grove Recreation Ground, we are pleased to inform you that this site will be receiving a brand-new playground this summer.
This playground will be junior focused and have a variety of play features; from swings to sensory panels.
These works will begin week commencing Monday, 26 May 2025 and will last up to 8 weeks, however this is subject to ground and weather conditions.

During this time there will likely be parking suspensions from Monday, 26 May 2025 to Friday, 30 May 2025 along Upper Butts/Church Walk leading up to Robin Grove Recreation Ground, this is to facilitate access for large contractor vehicles. There will likely be further parking suspensions, but we will try to limit these as the project progresses.
