About the survey
We asked members of the public to provide feedback on this community-initiated project to improve Chiswick High Road
Feedback was open from Tuesday 24th September 2024 until Monday 7th October 2024.
A member of Council staff was on site on Thursday, 3rd October (15:00 to 17:00) to discuss the plan with the public.
How we're funding this work
Funding has been secured from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, with additional substantial funding provided by the Chiswick Flower Market. The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is provided by the UK Government and managed in Greater London by the Greater London Authority.
The project has been led by Chiswick Flower Market and is being taken forward by Hounslow Council, in cooperation with our Highways contractor, Hounslow Highways.
This project meets the Council’s priority to “make our town centres comfortable and attractive places for people to walk and spend time, with public spaces, art and greenery” and the criteria for UKSPF funding. As such, Hounslow Council is proud to support this community led project to improve this important area of Chiswick town centre.
Who we’ve engaged with
The Chiswick Flower Market has engaged Luke Greysmith, a lead designer of the Eden Project, of LGLA Projects to develop the design for Gingko Corner to turn an overgrown and inaccessible brick planter into a new, accessible green space to protect and enhance the existing Gingko tree, while improving planting and providing a space for residents and visitors to rest and relax.
The Council’s Regeneration Team have worked closely with the Chiswick Flower Market and the landscape architect, allocating funding from the UKSPF fund and providing advice to ensure the designs work with highways and accessibility requirements, to protect the root zone of the Gingko tree, and to ensure the design is achievable.
Chiswick Flower Market has displayed plans for the project on their website and released stories in the local online news sites, where feedback has been mainly positive.
A Traffic Management Order (TMO) has been issued to consult with the public and local businesses on the removal of the single parking space needed to create greater access for those with mobility issues. This consultation closed at the end of August.
The designs have gone through several stages and have been developed into a final design which we are now presenting to the community to understand the public response to the scheme.
Further information on the project and how the design has evolved can be found on the Chiswick Flower Market website here.
