This consultation has concluded and thank you for your contribution. You can Read the most recent update below
OVERVIEW
Public spaces serve as the connective tissue of urban environments, playing a crucial role in fostering community, enhancing liveability, and contributing to urban resilience. In response to increasing pressures for improved public spaces that cater to diverse users, the London Borough of Hounslow initiated a comprehensive consultation to reimagine its public realm through the project Transforming Hounslow’s Public Spaces.
UPDATE
51 residents participated in this consultation and 2,000 interactions through other engagement methods such as:
Focus group meetings (10 groups)
Equality workshops (Co-design) (over 50 people)
Location-based in-person interviews and surveys (Pop-ups and
Augmented) (700 conversations, 580 surveys filled in)
AR based Co-Design to engage youth (77 young people engaged)
Over 30 internal meetings took place with Council Teams across directorates (Transport, Planning, Communities, Regeneration, Environment, Health, Young People, Culture, Equalities, NetZero, etc)
These findings have been included in our internal engagement records. We are continuing to gather and analyse the surveys and other forms of engagement we conducted. The aim is to compile these into a comprehensive brief, which will guide the development of the first draft moving forward.
What we did
We want to make public spaces across the borough inclusive, environmentally-friendly and welcoming. We are gathering feedback on how we can transform our spaces to make sure they encourage a sense of belonging, offer equitable access, promote active lifestyles, physical and mental health, social interaction, cultural integration and support a vibrant economy.
Public spaces include:
- Streets, alleyways, squares and shop parades
- Pavements and pedestrian areas
- Waterfronts and canal routes
- Village greens
- Open spaces e.g. car parks and small green strips/areas (not parks or playgrounds)
- Entries of train and tube stations, civic and leisure centres, libraries, schools and faith buildings
- Any other spaces open to the public where people gather or move through
