Join the UK Youth Parliament
Represent local voices. Influence national change.
The Hounslow Youth Parliament elections are now in the voting stages. Voting is open to young people who live, work or come to school in the Borough of Hounslow aged 11-18 years.
You can find every candidates Manifesto to the right of this page in uploaded documents. Please read through each candidates manifesto carefully so you can make an informed decision about your vote.
If a candidate name says withdrawn, it means they are no longer part of the election process.
What is the UK Youth Parliament?
The UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) empowers young people to speak up on the issues that matter most – both locally and nationally.
As a Hounslow MYP, you will represent Hounslow’s young people on a national scale, working with other young representatives from across the UK to campaign for change and influence decision-makers.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
Debate issues in the House of Commons
Work with other MYPs across the UK
Campaign on key issues affecting young people
Develop leadership, confidence, and communication skills
What’s expected of the members?
Successful applicants will need to commit to the full one-year role. This includes:
Representing Hounslow’s young people locally and nationally
Joining or continuing as a member of Hounslow Youth Council for the full duration of your appointment
Attending regular meetings, events, and activities
Leading or contributing to campaigns
They will also be required to:
Attend a national residential weekend at a UK university, where MYPs from across the country come together to set priorities and prepare for parliamentary debates
Attend the UK Youth Parliament sitting in the House of Commons during the Autumn term
Election process
If their application is successful, they will become an official candidate and take part in a borough-wide election. Following an initial eligibility check, there will be a peer selection process, with elections taking place in schools and youth spaces. Key dates will be confirmed in due course.
