James Street 'area' Proposed Controlled Parking Zone
This consultation closed on Monday 25 March 2024, an update will be available shortly which will summarise the findings and next steps.
Overview:
Complaints were received by Hounslow Council regarding parking difficulties being experienced by residents of Glenwood Road, James Street and School Road, Hounslow, which is within the current Hounslow Town Centre South (HTCS) controlled parking zone (CPZ).
It is reported that parking pressures have increased, particularly in the evening and weekend periods, following the construction of new residential developments in the surrounding area, in addition to the longstanding issue of non-residents parking for access to the nearby high street shops and restaurants.
These complaints have resulted in two petitions being submitted to the council requesting changes to the existing CPZ scheme to alleviate the issues being experienced.
Consultation process:
As a result of the petition, the council is now seeking the views of residents of Glenwood Road, James Street, Nos. 1-131 (odds) and Nos. 2-64A (evens) Pears Road, and School Road regarding the removal of these roads from the existing Hounslow Town Centre South CPZ and for the creation of a new stand-alone CPZ.
In the event of there being support for the proposed ‘new’ CPZ, the scheme will also extend to include Depot Road.
Residents of Pears Road between Nos. 104-170 (evens) and 133-183 (odds) are also being consulted to determine whether there is support for parking controls to be introduced in the currently uncontrolled section of Pears Road.
It is important to note that, should a new CPZ being introduced in these roads, existing HTCS permits will no longer be valid in the wider HTC CPZ.
The consultation therefore relates to the existing CPZ controls in Glenwood Road, James Street, Pears Road (part) and School Road, and the possible inclusion of the uncontrolled section of Pears Road in a CPZ. The purpose of the consultation is to give residents the opportunity to consider the council’s proposals including, where applicable, assessing the proposed scheme layout before indicating what, if any, changes you would support to the current parking controls in your road.
The detailed design only applies to residents of the unrestricted area of Pears Road between Nos. 104-170 (evens) and Nos. 133-183 (odds). The remaining layout of the bays for the consulted area will remain unchanged.
For clarity, residents of the existing CPZ are being asked whether you would support the creation of a standalone CPZ and, if so, the possible operational times of that scheme. Residents of the currently uncontrolled section of Pears Road are being asked whether you support the introduction of a CPZ and, if so, for your views on what CPZ it should be the possible operational times of it.
How to respond:
Before completing the online survey, please refer to both the scheme layout plan and the information included with the letter sent to residents of how CPZ’s work and the costs involved, both are available to view via the “Documents” section on the right-side.
