Ivybridge Pedestrian Accessibility 2026
Hounslow Council wants your views on the proposals to improve safety and accessibility for pedestrians using Summerwood Road to travel to Ivybridge Primary School
Overview
In recent years, the Council has increased its efforts to improve pedestrian and cycle accessibility across the borough, encouraging more active modes of travel. This proposal forms as ongoing accessibility improvements to the area around the school. The plans include upgraded footways, improved crossings, additional cycle parking, and enhancements to landscaping.
What are we proposing?
The council is proposing the following changes that will improve accessibility along Summerwood Road, which include:
- The removal of 11 parking spaces to create a wider pavement, seating areas, and small green spaces, partly replaced by 9 new paved parking bays.
- Improvements to pavements using durable, high-quality materials.
- Full resurfacing of the road to improve safety and driving conditions.
- Trimming and clearing vegetation to improve access and visibility.
- New continuous pedestrian crossing to give clear priority to walkers.
- Planting of new trees and greenery to enhance the look and biodiversity of the area.
- Installation of benches and street furniture to support community use and walking.
- Addition of a secure public cycle hangar for convenient bike storage.
