The London Borough of Hounslow is conducting a public consultation as part of our ongoing programme to improve pedestrian accessibility and walking routes. The aim is to enhance the footway and crossing facilities on Hall Road, opposite Heath Road, Isleworth.

Why are we proposing this?

The existing footway along Hall Road is narrow in sections, while the pedestrian crossing points lack dropped kerbs and tactile paving. These issues reduce accessibility, particularly for those with mobility impairments, and make pedestrian movements less safe and convenient.

What is the proposed scheme?

  • Dropped Kerbs with Tactile Paving: Installation of dropped kerbs and tactile paving at pedestrian crossing points to improve accessibility for wheelchair users, pushchairs and the visually impaired.

  • Footway Widening: The northbound footway will be widened to create additional space for pedestrians.

  • Bus Stop Marking: Refreshing of the bus stop marking to improve visibility and operation.

These proposals will enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility along Hall Road, ensuring a higher quality and more inclusive footway environment.

Collectively, these proposals are designed to improve pedestrian safety awareness, encourage safer walking, cycling and active lifestyles for pupils, their parents, and guardians. Additionally, existing parking availability affected.

Details can be found in the sidebar on this page: Plans of proposal.

Positive considerations:

  • Dropped kerbs with tactile paving will make crossing points safer and more accessible for wheelchair users, pushchairs and the visually impaired.

  • Widening the footway provides additional space for pedestrians, reducing conflicts and improving comfort.

  • Refreshing the bus stop marking will improve visibility and bus operation, supporting safer passenger boarding and alighting.

Negative considerations:

  • Footway widening may require minor adjustments to existing kerb lines, which could extend construction timescales.

  • Short-term disruption during works may temporarily affect pedestrian and bus stop access.
