FAQs
What is a flexible tenancy?
A flexible tenancy allows the Council to review the occupation of your home over a 5-year period, with a view to ending your tenancy if, for example, the circumstances of your household have changed since you move in. If nothing has changed and you are keeping to the terms of your tenancy agreement, at the end of the 5-year period, your tenancy becomes a secure tenancy.
What is a secure tenancy?
A secure tenancy is the usual type of tenancy most of our tenants have. These tenancies are granted for an indefinite period and, as long as the terms of the tenancy agreement are met, the Council can’t take away your tenancy.
What is an introductory tenancy?
An introductory (or probationary) tenancy is a trial tenancy and it lasts for one year. Trial tenancies are given to people taking their first long-term Council home tenancy.
