With projects including the Freddy Mercury Memorial Garden and the new eco-cabin, we have been working to residents to enhance Feltham Green for everyone.

Improvements around Feltham Pond

As proposed in the original 2017 Masterplan, the visibility of Feltham Pond from the High Street has been improved, the historic staggered seating steps have been reinstalled and the surrounding area repaved. Resin-bound porous paving has been introduced to allow greater permeability and allow maintenance vehicles to operate without ruining the terrain.

Feltham Green Cabin

The idea an eco-cabin was developed in 2019 through community engagement for the Feltham Green Masterplan, which was a pilot project in the GLA’s Social Integration Design Lab.

The main purpose of the Cabin is to provide a base for the Friends of Feltham Green and to create a space for all sorts of community uses - from meetings to craft workshops to exhibitions. With its distinctive design, this net zero building signals a new level of ambition for buildings in Feltham and will, we hope, become a landmark both within the Green and the wider town centre.

The Friends of Feltham Green selected the design with council officers and helped to raise funding for the project. They will manage and maintain the Cabin which is scheduled to be handed over by the Council by Autumn 2025. The Cabin will be available for local community groups to use on a ‘cost-recovery’ basis.

Freddy Mercury Memorial Garden

Proposals for landscaping improvements to Feltham Green were approved in 2020, including the area that would become the Freddie Mercury Memorial Garden. Crowdfunding by 185 of Freddie's Japanese fans enabled the purchase of a Sakura Cherry Tree which was unveiled at a ceremony marking his birthday in September 2023.
