Background
Feltham Assembly Hall is located in front of Feltham Park and is owned and run by Hounslow Council. We know that it is valued and well-used by a range of community groups. Parts of the building are in a poor state of repair; some spaces are under-used and some are unusable. Assembly Hall interior
Assembly Hall site birds-eye view
Constraints
Designated Local Open Space
Existing Assembly Hall building has under-used and disused facilities
Due to inactivity of the north facade, there is very little passive surveillance to deter anti-social behaviour
Existing veteran trees to be retained - no detailed survey.
Tennis and basketball courts
Play area could be improved
Key views and links to park to be maintained
Bus lane and bus stop to be retained
Existing junction makes new vehicular connection in this area impossible
Opportunities
Attractive pathways leading to Feltham Park
An opportunity to improve Assembly Hall facilities
Main hall is well used by community groups
High quality veteran trees
Opportunity to strengthen High Street frontage
Link with Feltham Arenas Masterplan and engagement
Pond area to be improved
Options
There is clearly a need to make improvements on the Assembly Hall site so that its facilities can be as beneficial as possible to the whole community - the question is what improvements and how.
One option could be to refurbish the existing building, for instance, whilst another could be to build a new community facility in its place. We would also need to look at ways to help fund any major refurbishment or rebuilding work - one option here could be to use some of the site for new homes or an extra care facility for older people.

You can tell us what you think about this by completing the Feltham Masterplan Survey. We would suggest you read more of the material about the masterplan first by looking through the other project tiles on the Future Feltham hub.
