Capital Interchange Way – Pedestrian Improvement

As part of the ongoing 3 - year Community Led Scheme programmes, the London Borough of Hounslow is carrying out a public consultation, to construct an informal pedestrian crossing - flat top plateau between the entrance to Kew House school and the car park entrance to the Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre.

Proposals also include widening of the footway on the western side from the schools’ entrance to the junction of Chiswick High Road (A205).

Why are we proposing this?

The proposals have been developed to improve pedestrian safety, particularly for school pupils at all times, and to support and encourage local trips to be made on foot or pedal cycle.

Parking availability would be reduced by 1 bays on the northern side to accommodate the raised plateau, and at other sides, parking and loading restrictions would remain the same.

What is the proposed scheme?

This proposal would remove the barrier to walking by improve pedestrian safety and in line with Council’s wider aims of increasing active travel and creating an environment that makes our roads safer for everyone living, working, and visiting the borough.

Details are shown on the following link: Plan of proposal, as well as on the plans found in the sidebar on this page.

Some positive outcomes: -

  • Improve pedestrian safety.
  • A safer neighbourhood environment all times.
  • Benefits for those who are negatively affected from heightened speeds of vehicles, affecting both actual and perceived road safety.
