Consultation has concluded
This consultation closed on 09 August 2024.
Thank you to everyone that responded to the consultation. We have shared a summary of the responses below, including details of the decision(s) taken as of the feedback received.
What we consulted on
In response to a resident petition requesting alterations to the existing operational times of Bedfont Lane CPZ, the council carried out a consultation with those residing or working within the boundary of the CPZ to understand local views on the existing CPZ and whether any changes were required.
The council also included proposals to amend the existing layout of the CPZ which included:
the creation of additional parking bays
the conversion of some shared-use parking bays to resident only
upgrading some existing single yellow lines to double yellow lines where parking is not deemed appropriate
Who responded
The review consultation received a total of 28 responses from the 164 properties consulted which represents a response rate of 17%.
What did people say?
The results of the consultation indicated that the majority of respondents were in support of retaining the CPZ but there was also support for the operational times to be extended.
The responses received in relation to the CPZ operational times identified support for the scheme to include weekends and for the operational hours to extend beyond the current finishing time of 6.30pm.
Following the above decision, the council carried out a 21-day statutory consultation on the proposal to extend the CPZ operational times. No objections were received during the statutory consultation process.
Implementation:
A copy of the implementation letter is attached, confirming that:
The works to replace the existing CPZ signage are scheduled to take place during the week commencing 31 March 2025.
The new parking controls will then become operational from 7 April 2025. From this date, the CPZ operational times will be Monday-Sunday, 9am-8pm and valid permits must be used to park in the CPZ during these times.
Summary of changes:
The operational times of the CPZ will be changed from Monday-Friday, 9.30am-6.30pm to Monday-Sunday, 9am-8pm.
Conversion of the parking bay in Manor Place and the first set of bays in Sandycombe Road and Sydney Road from ‘resident permit only’ to ‘permit holders and pay to park’. Resident and visitor permits can both still be used in these bays.
Conversion of some single yellow lines to double yellow lines to prevent parking which is likely to reduce road safety or cause an obstruction to moving traffic. These works have already taken place.
The upcoming works will not prevent permit holders parking in the existing parking bays on the day(s) of the works.
